This picture from The Matrix (1999) movie is the reason I lost many friends in 2000; I watched this movie over 36 times within the first year of its release as many others followers and fans. However, what really struck me as weird, I watched the making of the movie just as much as the movie, and even took notes on the technology, equipment, and software it took to make the movie. I remember researching the camera, at famous Neo's(K. Reeves) 3D spin-around shot, the technology didn't yet exist, and how it was put together by a few masterminds of the fields, which lead to the invention of bullet-time. This is how I knew this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. And when I heard the Art Institute offered a Digital Film major that also included visual effect classes, I was sold.
I love movies, weirdly. Here, at the Art Institute, I decided to go with digital film major. Even though I had a strong desire to pursue animation and visual effects, I still want to produce more than just actions movies. I have an appreciation for all films, and filming styles, and desire to be a well-rounded director. Most action blockbuster movies, such as Spiderman series, tell a romantic story within the plot that must be filmed like a drama. The Art Instititue will give me the 'know how' on how on everything film enabling me to go more place, do more thing. With a digital film major, I believe I have a great opportunity to succeed in my field, and hopefully be as ground breaking as the Wachowski Brothers.
